  9. Feh. Just another GOP rant with a blind eye to Conservatives' own tyranny.

Tell me, who gave us the Government's restrictions on Abortion and Gay Marriage? Who fought against Civil Rights and to this day stirs the bigotry pot to earn votes in the South? Who argues against estate taxes so America's royalty can perpetuate themselves? Who took us into war for the benefit of Bush's ego and Halliburton's profits? Who uses foreign "enemies" to scare the population into pat-downs?

Why yes, it's our "friends of liberty": Conservatives.

  10. Ahhh, but Eddie...the issue isn't about Liberals or Conservatives, it's about *Progressives*. They're in BOTH camps, and they're poisonous on either side.

I don't see this so much as a "GOP rant" as an "intelligent human being who can reason and think critically" rant.

  11. "Who fought against Civil Rights and to this day stirs the bigotry pot to earn votes in the South?"

Ummm, Eddie? That would be the "Dixiecrat" party - the Democrats! Look at the names: Al Gore Sr., Robert C. Byrd, Strom Thurmond - who as a Democrat, filibustered the Civil Rights Act for 18+ hours! There are no Republicans in that group - just Democrats. The "bigotry pot" is stirred by Jesse Jackson (Democratic presidential candidate), Charlie Rangel, and Maxine Waters - all using their race in an effort to get their personal misdeeds ignored!

Conservatives have been given a black eye in a lot of ways, but you're just ignoring the facts and the history of race relations...

  12. All this crap about democrats and republicans, conservatives and liberals, blacks and whites serve only to obfuscate the real issue, Eddie. A tyrant like Obama will take freedom from all of those, and misdirection like you provide only helps him.

    Idiot.

  14. People, I didn't say the Democrats are free from fault. But Lena's document puts all the blame on liberals, progressives, Democrats -- whatever the buzzword of the week is -- without acknowledging the Conservatives blame too. As if Conservatives only have roses emanating from the backsides.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @anonymous said, "There are no Republicans in that group - just Democrats."

Dixiecrats like Strom Thurmond who switched to the Republican Party when the Democrats became too tolerant of racial equality? He had the "Democrat" label but was at the Conservative end of the party. It was Progressives (aka Liberals) who pushed the equality agenda. For Conservatives to claim that mantle is absurd.

See what happens when you selectively pick out Democrats' faults and ignore the Republicans'? You just become beholden to GOP talking points to win the base and the next election.

Look beyond the parties and the labels. I assume some people reading this blog have access to a Bible? Look up Matthew 7:2-5 -- something there about motes and eyes.

There's plenty of blame and credit to go around. Lena's document is slanted / biased to one politically-labelled view.

  17. Still, the useful idiots rush to man the ramparts.

Eddie, your attack on this paper is no less than a defence of Progressivism, as currently practiced by Obama. True, there have been progressives in the GOP (TR) but this isn't about history, but rather the manner in which our society is undergoing the hidden, deliberate, abrogation of our rights.

Democracy and Republics existed prior to the 20th Century so were not included in the new forms of governance listed. I'll leave it to readers if Democracy and Republics are still around.

Don't be coy. Progressivism in 2010 is associated with one and only one political party. Note that I didn't mention which one. But do you have any doubt which one I meant?

  24. For a lot of years, I have said (and believed) "I don't care about fixing blame, I care about fixing problems."

Progressives and progressiveism are pretty much everywhere

  26. Brad, great read. Thanks for posting. Perhaps I read it too quickly, but one thing I didn't see mentioned as absolutely essential for the true despot wannabe is to make sure that the populace become totally dependent/reliant upon their leaders/government and eschew any sort of faith in God. This can be accomplished over time by implementing one massive government program after another -- by giving people stuff at the expense of those who still work. Thanks again.

  28. Sir, thank you for posting this document. We shall study it...

The one trait all those 5 permutations of human gov't have in common is, they substitute some lesser authority, some human / political party / race or class, in place of God's transcendent Authority.

The Declaration of Independence says the Authority is .."the Law's of Nature & (the Laws of) Nature's God..", meaning, 'Natural Law & Revealed (Biblical) Law' - so much for us being a 'secular nation'...

    Balderdash !

What is the result when these abstract Truths take form, and are embodied in & thru 'we the people' ?

When lived thru individuals and their families, these sublime Truths bring Liberty, love, justice & limited civil gov't, as the result.

Such a people will desire to live under Law, as in a Republic - as the several States once were, and the Colonies before them.

And only under such a people, will the Tyrants be kept in check.

What is the point of the insipid debate about which type of Tyrant you prefer ?

Would that be the Demopublicans or the Republicrats ?

GWB, Clinton & Obama are all Tyrants who gain their traction, from our vice & lack of Virtue.

Unless and until those entities - individuals, families (and the wider church they make up...) revitalize the concept of 'Self-Government, under God' - Statism will continue to usurp the freedom & Liberty that was originally our heritage.

Psalm 2 lays out the struggle, Psalm 110 shows the real King, Psalm 149 explains the role the genuine Christian Patriot plays, as conduit of God's Justice.

1st. Samuel chapter 8 is a cautionary tale of how a nation slides into Tyranny, by actually demanding a tyrant, in place of God's just rule.

The Declaration of Independence lays down the Principles of how the Authority flows from God & his Natural Law to the People, and up to their leaders.

Thomas Jefferson was a prophet - it took 1740 years AD - Christian Era, for this amazing system to develop - are we in it's twilight or it's renewal ?

As my forebear, Samuel Adams explained that America had a new "King", upon the signing of the Declaration of Independence:

"We have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom alone all men ought to be obedient; He reigns in heaven; and from the rising to the setting sun, may His Kingdom come..."

Only under a revitalized Christianity can a Republic thrive....

  30. Those who have quoted my previous comment omitted the following. "Tyrants and despots are defined by their actions not their political party or philosophy." At this stage of the game, it is nonsensical to believe that political labels rather than the grasp for power defines the trajectory of U.S. governance.

Brad, please define what you mean by "Progressive" because just about everybody else in 2010 America is using that term to mean "Liberal" or "Democrat". I know that at other times an in other places "Progressive" has meant other things, but not now, and not here. You might want to reread your own section on "Subvert the Language."

So for the sake of argument I'll take you at your word that you didn't mean "Liberal" or "Democrat" when you say "Progressive". I'll ignore Chris Muir's "Day By Day" joke that your document is a blueprint for Obama's supposed tyranny.

Instead I'll try to enjoy your irony as non-partisan humor.

Except there are these nagging references to the GOP's talking points: tyrants use "firearm restriction"; the populace has an "irrational" sense of entitlement; "unfunded mandates"; "increased prosperity make[s] less material demands on the planet than poverty".

No, no, Eddie! Mustn't be deluded into thinking Brad was dipping into the conservative agenda. 'Tis just a joke. Big laugh.

    Ha.

    Amen !

Both parties are thoroughly corrupt, but in different ways, so they fool most citizens.

What matters is how they are equally devoted to the:

    1) Increase of government power, overall.

    2) Diminution of our essential Liberties

On those two goals, both parties are essentially one.

The GOP will dupe us into thinking that the big bad 'terrorists' are going to get us, and using that fear, they usher in the total surveillance State.

The Dems push the same mantra: 'Trade your Liberty for security....', both of them ignoring the fact that it is a citizens own government that is the biggest single threat against their Life, Liberty & Property.

RJ Rummel's study proves this fact: 160 million + killed in genocide by their own governments.

    http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/WSJ.ART.HTM

The danger posed by terrorists is miniscule in comparison, but a very useful tool to grow an all powerful State, as we see in 'Mordor on the Potomac'.

Yesterday, I heard Rep. Peter King (erswhile 'conservative GOP' buy from upstate NY) being interviewed by his 'constituent' Sean Hannity, and he sounded like any Obama admin hack - droning on about how the total abrogation of all Americans 4th amendment rights was 'necessary' due to the danger posed by Terrorism. Baloney !

(Hannity was suspiciously tepid in opposing the Congressman King's advocacy of Tyranny.

One can't be too unfriendly to one's future tyrants now, can we ?

The ring of power corrupts all who desire it...)

By the lockdown the TSA / Homeland Security (makes my skin crawl to type it) has us under, one would think bombs are exploding everywhere across America.

So far the only plots are ones the FBI has has to entrap these sadly duped, largely Muslim young men into attempting to perpetrate.

Brad, the other 'ism' that could make your list is 'Collectivism' - which infects the whole land, both parties, drives the MSM, even infecting most churches!

Simply defined as 'group or herd think' - thus the attempt to condition us to one, bland, unthinking mass. It is the attempt to abrogate any strands of Individuality.

The genuine Christian/Patriot will resist the 'makeover' attempt. He or she knows that oftentimes, the majority is fooled by illusions, and they must go it alone -

As the hero of Scotland during the Reformation struggle, John Knox said, even if all you know seem to forsake the Truth, yet ..."one man with God, makes a majority !"

    What to do ?

I say 'REVOLT' - at every level, in every Lawful way. 0 % co-operation with Tyrants or their enablers.
Know your rights & assert them peacefully, but firmly.

Don't mail that tax check - hold back.

If the rule of Law no longer protects us, 'we the people', then it no longer protects them, the vaunted 'elites'. Destruction of our nation of Law cuts both ways.

Let us see how they like it when the tables are turned....

  35. So, what's an person to do if they disagree with progressives AND reject religion? I do not believe the Constitution is divinely manifest, yet I still hold it dear. As for modern politics, Obama is as much a puppet as Bush was and Clinton before that and all the way back to Ford, when the true power elite realized they could not afford randomness in leadership. Yes, I'm saying Reagan was a puppet, he didn't have any more of a clue than Bush Jr did, the gov't was run by his "people" and he did (better than most) the job of cheerleader and PR huckster as have they all since then.

True Freedom lies in Anarchy and no form of government can match that. Because government in all forms is a social contract to submit various freedoms in exchange for security and justice. Personally, I actually prefer some government (and the necessary taxes) over warlords and tributes. Asking 300+ million people to agree on the terms of gov't is outrageous and ludicrous and it's an amazing achievement that we've made it this far.
